Earth Day Celebration at Bahia Honda State Park

Bahia Honda State Park is having their 17th annual Earth Day Celebration on April 14, 2012.  On this special day we will have several fun activities such as paint-your-own wall hanging, a puppet show and a sand sculpture building contest.  There will be environmental exhibits, a cookout and live music provided by local musicians.  The activities are free for the day including the entry into the park. DEP will have a limited number of free State Park One Day passes to handout to families.

Easy As One Program

Easy As One – Ordinary actions. Extraordinary results. is an environmental awareness campaign by DEP that highlights easy actions each one of us can take to make sustainable practices part of our daily lives at home, at school, at work and at play. South District Staff will talk about battery & Cell phone recycling programs.  Going “green” at lunch time.  Cleaning up after our pets and talking about water quality and the importance of keeping our rivers and estuaries clean.

Conservancy of Southwest Florida Earth Day

Celebrate Earth Day with a Saturday filled with earth-friendly family fun. This free Earth Day Festival at the Conservancy of Southwest Florida is an area tradition. Enjoy the kids’ carnival, family programs, environmental exhibits, food, crafts and other surprises.   DEP Staff will talk to visitors about the Green School Network and the activities involved, such as collecting plastic bags, which will be collected at the event in return families will receive a State Park pass. There will also have information on the Collier County L.I.F.E. (Learning In Florida Environment) currently in place in Collier County.  There will be DEP informational handouts and brochures.  They will also listen to attendees environmental issues if they have any.

Enjoy Art, Food, Music, and Environmental Presentations!

Gaia Live! Project NatureConnect Experiences from 10:00 – 4:00 – Free Kayak Rides start at 10:30 am  -Kids’ Activities start at 11:00 AM – FOOD AVAILABLE STARTING AT 11:00 AM  and more.  The Florida Department of Environmental Protection will be providing families with CDs with children activities,   How to go green ideas and other DEP information.  We will ask attendees for any ideas or local issues that we might need to know about concerning the environment.  DEP will also provide free one day park passes, limited number, to people who visit our display.
